Mentoring, manuscript consultation, and more.

I’ve taught writing at the undergraduate and graduate MFA level, run classes, workshops and retreats, and for more than three decades mentored and worked with writers at all levels of experience on stories, story collections, novels, and creative nonfiction.  I provide a close reading of the material with extensive feedback, and work collaboratively with the writer to explore avenues of development and revision.

I design individualized courses of study that meet the student’s needs and interests and can include one-on-one mentoring and feedback, craft discussions, reading lists, generative writing prompts, group workshopping, and access to a cohort of highly-experienced mentors, editors, and manuscript coaches working in a variety of genres.
